C.O.O.L. (Children Of Our Lord)
Sunday School and
Contemporary Worship - Sundays at 10:00 a.m.!
Parenting is tough these days. Despite our vigilance and efforts to be a guiding force for our children, much of what
influences our children is out of our immediate control. As parents we make it a priority to send our children to school
Monday through Friday to learn academic fundamentals. We also need to make it a priority to bring them to Sunday
School every Sunday to learn how to navigate their Monday through Friday lives. At First we know the difference
Christian Education makes in the formation of your child as a young person of faith in today’s world. The lessons they
learn and the teachers that teach them may very well make the difference between a “right” choice and a “wrong” one.
C.O.O.L. (Children Of Our Lord) Sunday School meets during the school year from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. All children ages 3 through grade 6 are welcome. This year we will be focusing on building relationships. Through faith experiences, children and teachers will come to a better understanding of what God calls them to do and be. Each lesson is designed
to activate their faith and encourage them to open the scriptures and explore God's word.
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who
built
his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house,
but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock." —Matthew 7:24–25 NRSV
This parable is the basis for our Sunday school classes. We want children to build a strong faith foundation so that when the storms of life overwhelm them their house of faith will not fall away. It will stand strong and give them comfort, strength, and shelter found only in a loving God. The children will be in a traditional classroom setting with the same teaching team all year.
- 3– and 4-year olds will go directly to their single-based classroom in our Zaccheus’
Tree House at 10 a.m.
- Kindergarten through 56ers will go directly to their Sunday school room by 10 a.m.,
using the staircase at the south end of the Fellowship Room.
— February's Focus —
The lessons for the 3-year olds through 4th grade will be on the good news from the Gospels.
They will be learning that Jesus values all children in God's kingdom.
February's B.I.G. (Believe in God) — The 56’ers focus is connecting the lines between Jesus'
teachings and the way we live.
Please Note—No Sunday School on February 19
Transfiguration Sunday — one service at 9:30 a.m.
