Summer Wellnes ProgramGet My People GOING!!

You can still get going on this journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Be sure to join us at our next meeting on Wednesday,
July 28 at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Room. Come and learn more about how to get started on a journey to wholeness
of mind, body, spirit, and community or check your progress. Hope to see you there!

Health Tip:  While summer is a busy season, it is important to take time for “Sabbath rest.” Set aside time to use a daily devotional, read scripture, pray for family, friends and those listed on the Lifelines Prayer List. Attend worship and give
thanks for our freedom to worship.

Blood Pressure: Our Parish Nurse will be checking blood pressures in the Fellowship Room after the service on August 14
and between services on August 15.

Care Ministry:  Please call the church office or Parish Nurse, Joan Holt, jholt@firstgeneseo.org, if you know of someone
in need of a call or visit from a member of our Care Ministry team.

Diabetes Support Group:  “Helping Hands” will meet on Tuesday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Room at First.
Kelly Kozik, associated with the Diabetes Clinic in Chicago, will speak on “Convenient Tips for Eating Healthy and Staying Active.” The organization is open to anyone who is directly or indirectly affected by diabetes. For more information, contact Gary or Mary Anne Daniels at 944-2404 or visit www.helpinghandsingeneseo.org.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness:
The Henry/Stark County Health Department Illinois Breast and Cervical
Cancer Program provides eligible women ages 35-64 who are uninsured with free screening exams, pap tests, and mammograms, by funding the exams and promoting awareness of the issues associated with breast and cervical health. Information sheets are available at the Resource Center and the Henry County Health Department will be happy to screen
any woman over the phone by calling 309-852-5272.

Trinity’s Annual Appreciation of Parish Nurse Ministry

Congratulations! First Lutheran Church is currently one of 56 that is committed to improving the health of its members and we thank you for that. To care for those in the community who are hurting and in need, you have combined resources from both the religious and healthcare sectors to make health education, referrals, support and patient advocacy available to individuals in the Quad City area. Trinity Medical Center applauds the faith and efforts of churches like yours, whose teamwork has greatly impacted the health of the community. For 19 years, Trinity Medical Center has strongly supported the connection between faith and health through Parish Nursing Partnerships. Thank you for your collaboration and caring.
